Very caring and very through. Love you guys and the wonderful work you do for our beloved feathered friends.
Fantastic service, the nurses and vets there are lovely. Nice quiet and little location that ensures a stress free visit for my bird.
Perhaps unusually our experience involved a bird with zero dollar value - our little Bantam rooster had an eye injury and wasn't in great shape. Dr. G and the reception staff were extremely professional and helpful but the simple reason I've felt it worth reviewing and giving five stars: he clearly explained that the biggest issue was the pain our little Troop was experiencing due to the injury and this could be remedied at a fraction of the cost of the simple procedure he offered. It was made clear to us that Troop was already on the mend, the procedure may speed things up somewhat but had likely limitations. The c.200km round trip for us was taken into consideration along with the cost vs benefit of the procedure in a refreshingly up front manner but otherwise we and Troop were given the same degree of respect as if he was the last Dodo. There's a reason that other veterinary clinics refer to this man. If you have a bird in need of care and you want a no bull assessment of the situation and obviously capable treatment you can't go past this practise.
Its not a bad place and I feel disappointed I feel the way I do but I do wish that I maybe saw a different doctor at BBV.. I was running late due to traffic and phoned up notifying a nurse (Jennifer - lovely lady) who said it was ok. We then went through all the admin and I then met the doctor/vet. Sadly I felt she was a bit... passive aggressive? Maybe it was just her personality I dont know but she just wasnt that welcoming/friendly. It is a business after all but it honestly just felt like a hustle in a way. All the extra services being thrown at me and when I was interested in alternative methods before forking out for a bunch of expensive and invasive tests, I felt the Dr was sour about it and just not really that helpful. In a nutshell, I felt bedside manner was lacking. I mean, even when I expressed concern about toenail clipping and nicely just asked her to please be careful, the vet responded with a kind of rude sounding um its my job. I know what Im doing response... On the plus side, I found reception to be really helpful and welcoming.
As much as I'm grateful these specialised vets exist and don't doubt their expertise in treating birds their lack of responsiveness to genuine email queries regarding sick wild birds leaves a lot to be desired. A phone call request for a call back also went ignored. RSPCA and local vet recommended i contact them. Very poor. I hope they see this post and address similar situations in a better way in future.
